Obituary for George William Ferris
George William Ferris (61) of Lincolnton, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24th 2019.
He was a native of Derita, North Carolina and in his early years served his community as an active member of Derita Fire and Rescue as well as Long Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Following an 18-year career as a truck driver, he went on to start Ferris Contracting Company as a General Contractor, with son Jeremy.
In his spare time he enjoyed coaching his children in swim, basketball, football, softball and other activities. He liked to ride horses, work on vehicles and later enjoyed being a part of Lincolnton High School Marching Band with daughter Samantha. George loved to travel with his girls Jenny, Nicki and grandchildren. Recent adventures included the beach, a cruise and his first commercial airline flight. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his children and grandchildren whom he adored.
He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Lawing Ferris, father William John Ferris and sister Marilyn Ferris Brantley all of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Ferris and daughter Samantha Ferris both of Lincolnton, daughter Jennifer Manson and husband John of Concord, daughter Nichole Tucker and husband Andrew of Huntersville, son Jeremy Ferris and wife Michelle also of Huntersville and sister, Marguerite Hiatt and husband Ron of Charlotte as well as many nieces, nephews and 9 grandchildren; Emily, John jr., Erica, Jordan, Seth, Jacob, Landen, Liam and Locke.
Services will be held Saturday, March 2nd, 11am at Beth Haven Baptist Church in Denver, North Carolina.
