On Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 6:45am Debora Rebecca Hughes went home to be with her savior and husband. She was born in Mooresville, NC on June 14, 1956 to Kirby H. and Jeanette J. Deese. Debora is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Arthur "Sonny" Hughes, and brothers Scott and Danny Deese. She is survived by her children Adam and his wife Lesa Hughes, Benjamin Hughes, Marie Hughes , Wendy Hughes and grand-daughter Tiffany Hughes all of Gastonia, her brother Gleen and wife Kay Deese, and Greg and Cindy Deese also of Gastonia.
Debora was an amazing Baker and an avid collector of all kinds of cookbooks, even if she rarely used them. She created and baked the oddest cakes with even odder ingredients... and they were amazing! The family looked for and fought over her rice crispy treats at every holiday meal! They went first most times! Debora and Sonny could be found buying CDs, dolphins, Star Wars and anything they thought people may want at yard sales every weekend. She was a lover of Bingo (just not the prizes!) and arguing with Sonny, her late husband. Any night during the week at 7pm Jeopardy was on. She loved arguing with the contestants! She loved her Bible and puzzle books; she was rarely without either. Most times her heart out weighed her wallet as she blessed her kids, grand-daughter, and anyone else with gifts. She was a fan of her kids, but she was Tiffany's #1 fan.
